Dear Editor:
I want to McVeigh-in on “Great Ideas.” There is no shortage of great ideas. The shortage is in the ability to get them accomplished. Your 12/19/24 edition allowed me the opportunity to describe one of them in detail, a new bus route from the Rockaways to the Sheepshead Bay Station via the Belt Parkway. One of your readers also sent this great idea to the MTA, labeling it the Q35A. The MTA even addressed it in their Staff Summary submitted to the Board seeking approval of their Queens Bus Network Redesign which was approved.
Now the bad news. The MTA stated, “The proposed routing is not being considered currently.” There was no commitment given to study it as part of the Brooklyn Bus Network Redesign, with a final plan due this spring, and no reason given why.
However, there is a shortage of elected officials willing to fight for great ideas.
