Next Tuesday, November 12, is also the 22nd anniversary of the crash of Flight 587 in Belle Harbor. It was a terrible and terrifying day that occurred in our community as we were also dealing with the aftermath of 9/11. Two hundred and sixty people aboard the flight were killed and five local Rockaway residents were killed in their homes. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends who mourn for loved ones who died that day.
