High Tide

 High Tide

After a few glorious weekends, we finally had a washout. Even the NYC Columbus Day parade was canceled on Monday. It’s never a good sign when the weather forecasters call it “the first Nor’easter of the season.” Here’s hoping it’s the only one we’ll see. Fortunately, we missed the flooding that was forecasted.

101 Deli officially closed for good on Sunday, and within a day or two, a temporary sign went up saying Far Rockaway Beach Market coming soon (with an unfortunate typo). The banner said they’ll have groceries, sandwiches, snacks, a salad bar and juice bar, much like other bodegas around the community. Good luck to the new owners. And at the very least, we hope they realize Beach 101st is not in Far Rockaway, before putting an official name up.
