Hope for the Warriors Arrive July 11
Rockaway Warriors Weekend is coming! The welcome parade for Hope for the Warriors is next Thursday, July 11, marking the start of a fun-filled weekend on the water for our wounded warriors.
At around 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. next Thursday, the parade is expected to pass through Rockaway, down Rockaway Beach Boulevard to Beach 120th Street and then up Beach Channel Drive to Roxbury and Breezy Point for the start of a weekend of festivities. The warriors will enjoy a luau celebration at the Rockaway Point Yacht Club at around 7 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to line the streets with flags to cheer on and give a warm welcome to our visitors.
The warriors will enjoy a weekend of activities up in Breezy Point. From July 12 through 14, AmpSurf will be providing adaptive surf lessons for the warriors around Beach 212th Street. For information on volunteering, see: www.ampsurf.org/clinics-surf-therapy
On Friday, July 12, there will be a concert featuring Jake’s Rockin Country Band, a live seven-piece band, playing at the Colony Theatre in Breezy Point. The warriors and their families will be attending. Tickets are $40 and the event is BYOB. For tickets, contact Theresa Flanigan at 718-306-2098 The Rockaway Warrior Weekend will conclude with a closing Mass at the Breezy Point 9/11 Memorial on Sunday, July 14 at 10 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
