Huge Games at RLL This Weekend

After last weekend saw divisions clinched in the Major Girls, Minor Girls and Minor Boys division of the Rockaway Little League, Saturday, June 14, will see the playoffs begin in those divisions as well as a decisive matchup between the top two teams in Pee Wee Seniors – Breezy Lumber and McManus Plumbing.

In Major Girls, the Z-Shells broke out the heavy lumber in their quest to catch front runner Belle Harbor & Neponsit Living but came up just short. The Shells did ambush BH&N Living, 19-4, in the matinee game but lost a 9 a.m. slugfest to Walsh Properties, 15-12. The split locked up second place for the Z-Shells. They will face the Walsh girls in the semifinal Saturday morning. The winner will advance to the Championship Game against BH&N on Sunday.

In Minor Boys, Giuseppe’s Barbershop finished an undefeated season with a victory over TK Foundation, 11-2. TK and Class Act Photo will face off in the semifinals on Saturday for the right to try to spoil Giuseppe’s perfect season in the Championship Game on Sunday. Both playoff games are 9 a.m. affairs.

Berkshire Hathaway finished the Minor Girls campaign on an incredible roll with nine straight wins, the last of which was a 7-0 whitewash against Shannon Florist. Rockaway Beach Athletic stepped up into a second-place tie with Shannon by edging the Wharf Brats, 3-2, in the regular season finale. The playoffs begin this Saturday with the Championship Game scheduled for June 21.

The Pee Wee Seniors season does not end until June 18, but this Saturday will see first place decided. Breezy Lumber was clinging to a 1.5 game lead over red-hot McManus Plumbing when the week began. McManus must win the head-to-head matchup tomorrow to catch the front runners. Pee Wee Seniors playoffs begin on June 20, with the Championship Game on Monday, June 23.
