News On Rhea Ripley, Jon Moxley & Tama Tonga Debut!!!
Hey Wrestle Talk Fans! So much to talk about this week, so let’s dive right into it!
WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley has unfortunately suffered an injury that may potentially cause her to vacate the Women’s Championship. At the time of publishing this column, its unknown what type of injury she has suffered. The injury stems from a backstage incident with WWE Superstar Liv Morgan. It is unsure when or where she will vacate the title, but we will keep you posted on this developing story.
On the April 12 edition of WWE Smackdown, we saw the debut of former New Japan Pro Wrestling Superstar Tama Tonga, as he attacked Bloodline member Jimmy Uso. This was definitely a surprise, and this is fueling speculations of a possible split within the Bloodline. I’m looking forward to seeing how this situation unfolds.
We have an update on former AEW World Champion MJF. It’s being reported that he is still recovering from multiple injuries and is doing very well. Many have speculated that MJF would not be returning to AEW, but reports coming in are stating the contrary, as it appears that MJF is still under contract with AEW. We wish MJF continued success on his recovery.
AEW & NJPW Superstar Jon Moxley has become the new IWGP Heavyweight Champion by defeating Tetsuya Natio at the NJPW Live Event Windy City Riot. This is a huge win for Moxley, as now he becomes the first wrestler to have won the AEW, WWE and IWGP Championships. We wish Jon Moxley all the best and look forward to seeing him defend his championship, not only in Japan but here in the United States.
Going back to the WWE, they have recently announced that the WWE Draft will be featured on the April 26 edition of Smackdown. The draft is scheduled to end on the April 29 edition of RAW. I have a question to all the readers, “Who do you think will be drafted and where will they be going?” Send in your thoughts!
The Question of the Week comes in from Noel M. in Neponsit and he asked, “Now that Cody Rhodes is WWE Universal Champion, who would you like to see him defend the championship against?” That’s a great question, Noel, and it’s been already announced that Cody Rhodes will start touring internationally, and I see his first opponent may be Bobby Lashley or Kevin Owens. But ultimately, I want to see Cody Rhodes vs CM Punk. I also would like to see Cody Rhodes vs The Rock, but that may or may not happen as The Rock has left the WWE to film several movies. Thank you for the question!
