NYPD Prayers Warriors Lift Up the 101
By Katie McFadden
The NYPD Prayer Warriors continued on their mission to pray the Rosary over every police precinct in New York City, visiting the 101st Precinct in Far Rockaway on Saturday, December 6.

Last month, Mary Ruane of the Rosary group at St. Helen Church in Howard Beach, wanted to help boost the spirits of and offer support for the city’s police officers by praying the Rosary over nearby precincts. She reached out to Phyllis Inserillo, president of the Howard Beach Civic and chief of staff to Councilwoman Joann Ariola, for assistance and the effort has now become a citywide mission. So far, the NYPD Prayer Warriors have prayed the Rosary over the 106th, 102nd Precincts and the 100th Precinct in Queens, and on Saturday, they visited the 101st Precinct on Mott Avenue, where several officers themselves joined the prayer group.
The group hung a large sign saying, “St. Michael, protect our police so that they can protect us!” on the outside of the precinct and brought a statue of St. Michael, as each member held rosary beads and prayed through word and song.

Inserillo said the effort is getting noticed. “We are getting requests for certain precincts and our goal is to reach every precinct in New York City, so please be patient. Many of the officers are calling saying how much they appreciate knowing that there are people out there praying for them and supporting them” Inserillo said. “We will always Back the Blue.”
