Rhapsody Players Sing Sunday at RTC
By Dan Guarino
Fresh off playing a lively Brooklyn benefit concert the night before, the Rhapsody Players will make a harmonizing return to the Rockaway Theatre Company’s John Gilleece Theater, Fort Tilden, this Sunday, June 23 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 cash-only at the door.
For their “Summer in the City” show the multitalented vocal group, with live onstage band, will be belting “some Motown, some soul and rock and pop,” says the Player’s John Heffernan. Numbers will include “California Dreamin’,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “To Sir, With Love,” “Be My Baby,” “Wichita Lineman,” “Say A Little Prayer,” “Respect,” and of course “Summer In The City,” and more favorites old and new.
“We love performing,” says Heffernan. “Many of us have been performing at RTC for 20 years and love the theater, the audience and the members of this wonderful company.”
The Players are vocalists Samantha Caiati, Juliette Pannone Mallon, Colleen O’Donnell, Kiernan Hamilton, Bernard Smith and Heffernan, performing in various combinations.
Ready to welcome audiences to a spirited Rockaway ‘welcome back to summer’ performance at RTC, Heffernan says, “We are grateful to be able to perform here!”
