Rockaway Beach Bakery Opens at The Rockaway Hotel on April 3
The everything ham and cheese croissants are coming back. Chef Tracy Obolsky closed up her Rockaway Beach Bakery after 10 years at 87-10 Rockaway Beach Blvd., to the dismay of many fans of her sweet treats and baked goods. But the sad news was short lived as Obolsky recently announced that she’s simply moving on up. Rockaway Beach Bakery will open at its new home in The Rockaway Hotel on Beach 108th Street on Friday, April 3.
Next Friday, foodies can find the from-scratch pastries, coffee drinks and community spirit in the location that previously held Claudette’s Café. Rockaway Beach Bakery will open daily beginning at 7 a.m., six days a week at launch, expanding to seven days a week in May.
The addition builds on The Rockaway Hotel + Spa’s dynamic year-round hub for hospitality, dining, wellness, and culture, furthering the hotel’s commitment to being a gathering place for the Rockaway community at large.

“For us, hospitality is all about people, place, and creating spaces where people genuinely want to gather,” Terence Tubridy, Founder and Managing Partner of IGC Hospitality and Managing Partner of The Rockaway Hotel + Spa, said in a press release. “Tracy has built exactly that for ten years, and we’re thrilled to welcome Rockaway Beach Bakery to the hotel’s vibrant food and beverage scene, focused on community and one-of-a-kind culinary experiences for locals and visitors to enjoy together.”
A veteran of New York City’s fine-dining scene, having served as Executive Pastry Chef at Esca, Cookshop, and Danny Meyer’s North End Grill, Obolsky opened Rockaway Beach Bakery on Rockaway Beach Boulevard in 2016. What started as pastries sold out of a beach shack grew into a neighborhood staple the community made their own. Condé Nast Traveler described Rockaway Beach Bakery as “in a league of its own” for its breakfast dishes, while Bon Appétit’s food director cited the bakery as the real reason he visits Rockaway Beach. In July 2025, it was named the third-best bakery in all of Queens by the Queens Chamber of Commerce.

“Community has always been at the heart of everything I do,” Tracy Obolsky said in a press release. “This neighborhood gave me so much over the last decade — regulars who became friends, surfers who became family, and a reason to show up every morning. Finding a new home at The Rockaway Hotel means I get to keep building on that, and I cannot wait to see everyone walk through the door.”
The menu returns to the classics that made the bakery a destination: buttery croissants, inventive sticky buns, and seasonal pies, all made from scratch with the care and quality Obolsky’s regulars have come to expect. Among some of the menu items to start will be everything ham and swiss croissants, bacon, egg and cheese on a buttermilk biscuit, chicken salad on a croissant, and a rotating monthly pastry menu that will launch with the pie of the month: strawberry rhubarb and cake of the month: Chocolate Peanut Butter, blueberry yuzu sticky buns with cream cheese frosting and salted butterscotch blondies. The full menu also includes espresso drinks.
The bakery joins The Rockaway Hotel + Spa’s full suite of on-site amenities, including Margie’s, The Rooftop, The Pool House, The Spa, The Studio fitness space, The Supply Shop retail store, and more.

The Rockaway Hotel is located at 108-10 Rockaway Beach Dr. Rockaway Beach Bakery will have an entrance inside the Hotel and also on Beach 108th Street. For more updates, follow @rockawaybeachbakery on Instagram.
