Rockaway Film Fest Runs Thru Aug. 24

The 8th Annual Rockaway Film Fest is here! Already underway, the festival showcasing a variety of films for all ages, runs every day through Sunday, August 24.
On Wednesday. August 20, the film fest began with a screening of “Sanitorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass.” This year’s film fest theme is: “the year of the wood snake: a time of dynamic transformation. Undulating through patterns of creation, collapse, and renewal, this program is guided by endings that become beginnings.” Thursday’s showings begin with short “Look Into the Light” at 1 p.m. and ends with feature, “In the White City” at 7 p.m. Friday also begins with shorts at 4 p.m. and ends with feature “Bionico’s Bachata” at 10 p.m. Saturday’s films begin at 1 p.m. with shorts and ends with feature, “Atropia,” at 7 p.m. Sunday kicks off with “Children’s Cinema: William Wegman” at 10 a.m., and the festival ends with “Paul Clipson: Vibrations of Light” at 9 p.m.
All films take place in either the indoor (415 Beach 72nd Street) or outdoor (72-02 Gouverneur Ave.) Arverne Cinemas. Tickets are required and range from free to $10.
