Rockaway Honors Our Veterans
On Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, the Daniel M. O’Connell Post 272 of the American Legion brought the community together to honor those who have served this country.
On the warm and sunny Monday, a large crowd gathered at the Doughboy Monument on Beach 94th Street, where members of the American Legion led prayers and speeches acknowledging those who have served. Following the ceremony at the Doughboy Monument, the American Legion Auxiliary group of women went across the street to lay flowers at the Doughgirl Monument.
The ceremony followed a Veterans Day breakfast held at the nearby 100th Precinct, courtesy of the Belle Harbor Property Owners Association.
