RRC to Host Mayoral Debate Watch Party on October 16

By Rockaway Republican Club
On Thursday, October 16, the Rockaway Republican Club (RRC) will host a Mayoral Debate Watch Party at the Belle Harbor Yacht Club. A brief RRC meeting will precede the televised debate.
This debate will be a pivotal moment in the competitive race to replace Eric Adams as Mayor of New York City. It is the first time Andrew Cuomo, Zohran Mamdani, and Curtis Sliwa will appear together. With newcomer Mamdani ahead in the polls, it is a chance to shake up the dynamics and for Sliwa to demonstrate that he is the best anti-socialist option, not Cuomo. The event will be broadcast on WNBC.
“I don’t see Cuomo’s path to victory,” RRC Chairman Paul King said. “A lot of his Democratic support in the polls is simply anti-Mamdani sentiment. There are very few passionate Cuomo supporters. In some ways, he is like Hillary Clinton was in 2008 and 2016. Known. Distrusted. Unelectable.”
The debate begins at 7 p.m. on NBC 4. The RRC meeting at 6:30 p.m. will focus on the Club’s efforts to attract swing voters and to get out the Republican vote during the critical last few weeks of the campaign. Curtis Sliwa lawn signs, store signs and palm cards will be available. There is still time to sign up as a Block Captain in Rockaway.
Block Captains rally their Republican neighbors to make sure everyone votes for Curtis Sliwa. While voter turnout in Rockaway is better than many places, only about 50% of Republicans in our neighborhood come out to vote for Mayor of NYC. Block Captains can get that to 80%.
Early voting begins on Saturday, October 25. The Rockaway Republican Club will hold get-out-the-vote events on Beach 129th Street, near the Jade Events early voting site. That site is the early voting location for everyone who lives between the west side of Beach 123rd Street and the tip of Breezy Point. Citizens in the middle of the peninsula will cast early votes at the Rockaway Y. On the East End, early voting takes place at Sorrentino Recreation Center. Election day (November 4) poll sites are more local in relation to your address.
The RRC urges every Rockaway citizen to vote. This critical election must not be decided by 25% or 50% of the voters. Rockaway must make its voice heard.
