Seeking Spark Sally

By By Shane Kulman
Dear Enchantress,
I’m 64 years old and recently retired. After decades of putting everyone else first—family, work, community—I’ve been the strong caregiver, the steady rock for so many. Now, without those roles, I find myself feeling a bit lost and unsure of who I am. Deep down, I’m secretly ready for more—more joy, more creativity, more connection. I want to rediscover my own passions and embrace this new chapter with confidence and excitement, rather than fear or loneliness. How do I step fully into this next phase and make it truly amazing, and as you say “magical?” I’m not sure I’m on board with magic yet, but I know I get excited about it, and I’m curious.
It feels like I’ve spent so much time pouring into others that I forgot how to pour into myself. Retirement, instead of feeling like freedom, sometimes feels like a void. I worry that without a clear purpose, I’ll fade into the background or lose my sense of worth. Yet, there’s a spark inside me—a quiet hunger for something different, something meaningful just for me. I want to find ways to express myself creatively, build new friendships, and feel a vibrant sense of belonging again. How do I overcome the uncertainty and fear that hold me back from fully embracing this new life? How do I honor all that I’ve done while opening myself to new possibilities and joy? I’m ready to rewrite my story, but I need guidance to take that first step.
Dear Seeking Spark Sally,
I admire the wisdom and strength you’ve gathered over these years of caregiving and devotion. You’ve been the steady rock for so many, and now that the spotlight gently shifts to you, it’s perfectly natural to feel both a little unmoored and a whole lot curious. That spark inside you? It’s the beginning of something wonderfully transformative—your own personal magic, waiting to be unleashed.
Embracing this new chapter is having a bit of faith, excitement, and innocence. It’s about inviting possibility in with open arms and a playful heart. Think of it as dancing with curiosity rather than demanding certainty. Magic isn’t a distant myth; it’s the everyday alchemy of joy, creativity, and connection you’re ready to reclaim. You don’t have to believe in “magic” right away—just be open to the enchantment in small moments: a new hobby, a heartfelt conversation, or a quiet morning that feels like yours for the taking.
To honor your incredible past while stepping forward, begin by acknowledging your own needs and desires as deeply as you once did for others. Try small, gentle acts of self-expression—painting, writing, gardening, or even joining a community class that sparks your interest. Build connections by sharing your story; vulnerability often creates the richest friendships. Fear and uncertainty are natural companions on this journey but remember: they are signals that you are alive and growing, not barriers.
This is also a perfect time to surround yourself with others who understand and celebrate this vibrant shift in life. That’s why I created the Enchanted Expansion Offer—a space designed especially for women like you who are ready to explore, grow, and thrive in this next phase with support and magic woven through every step. And if you want a gentle, personalized way to start, consider joining me for a Celebrate Your Soul call—where we’ll connect deeply, honor your journey, and map out a path toward the joy and creativity you crave. I hope you are not offended by my offers here, but YOU ARE SO READY! And even if I do not hear from you, you have given so many people reading this the permission to “feel ok” with what’s next. So, for that I am grateful.
Now is the perfect time to rewrite your story with patience and joy, because you have it front and center! That’s the “striking when the iron is hot” kind of thing; knowing this next chapter holds the potential for more vibrant colors and deeper fulfillment than you might imagine. You’re not just stepping into retirement—you’re stepping into a whole new dance of life, with all the grace, mystery, and yes, a little magic, you can literally create any life you desire. Louise Hay started her publishing company at 54 years old. Laura Ingalls Wilder — published her first book, “Little House in the Big Woods,” at age 65, and Stevie Nicks is still performing at 76. Ponder those amazing women. Hope to hear from you soon. Cheers to your success,
Enchantress Shane
