Parting was such sweet sorrow from Shakespeare on the Rocks’ inaugural performance of “Romeo and Juliet” at the Beach 94th Amphitheater last summer. But do not fret. They’re doing it all again, and they can use a little help to pull off this year’s free performances, so they’re holding the First Annual Shakespeare on the Rocks Winter Ball Dinner and Dance on Saturday, March 14.

On Saturday at 7 p.m. at Bungalow Bar, Shakespeare on the Rocks is holding a fundraising event to help support their programming this year. This formal event will include dinner, a three-hour open bar (beer, wine and well drinks), live entertainment including music by DJ Pascal, poems recited by Owen Loof, also known as the Best Dressed Man in Rockaway, theatrical scenes played by some of Shakespeare on the Rocks’ actors, and even a prom style photo backdrop for professional photographer Jena Cumbo to photograph you in your fabulous formal attire. There’s also going to be a 50/50 raffle and Day Marie will be reading tarot cards.

“I think it’s gonna be a really fun event for people to get dressed up and have fun while raising money for local nonprofit community-based arts,” Shakespeare on the Rocks co-founder Rob Bryn said.

Tickets for this fundraising event are $100 and can be purchased at www.shakespeareontherocks.org. Higher-tier tickets include special gifts and mentions in the playbill.
