St. Camillus / St. Virgilius MVPs of the Week

Kinley Hearn
By Bill Swensen
The St. Camillus/St. Virgilius basketball program is underway with 150 local kids from 4th grade to 8th grade, playing in the Girls and Boys leagues. Here are some standout players this week.
Kinley Hearn
Girls League
We all know that basketball is a team sport, but this game really turned into a battle between two of the best players in the league. Every time Jolie Lane would score for the Red team, Kinley would come right back down the court and match her. Kinley was on fire. She was determined to get her Purple team a win, and that’s exactly what she did. Her incredible 29 points led her team to a hard-fought 6-point victory.
Jolie Lane
Girls League
Jolie was on the other end of the battle described earlier. She simply played the best game of the year in the Girls League. She was defending, pulling down key rebounds, and scoring at will. She was attacking all game long and she just didn’t miss. Her 35 points were the most scored by any player in Girls League this year. It was an incredible performance to watch.
Brogan Hearn
Junior Boys League
This is Brogan’s second MVP award of the year, and it is well-deserved. He is without question one of the top players in the league. This game was built on defense, and points were at a premium. Brogan dominated every part of this game and was able to break through some great defense and score a game high 13 points, leading his team to a 30-to-22-point win, and allowing them to move on in the playoffs.
Paul Pedone
Senior Boys League
This is Paul’s second MVP award, and nobody deserves it more. Paul is the leading scorer in the league, averaging 23 points per game. However, this game was off the charts. He poured in an incredible 56 points. This is definitely the most points scored by any player in any league since we’ve been keeping these stats (At least 25 years minimum. It would probably be a good bet to say it’s the most points scored ever.) Needless to say, his team also came away with a victory, sending them to the next round of the playoffs.
