St. Camillus / St. Virgilius MVPs of the Week

St. Camillus / St. Virgilius MVPs of the Week

The St. Camillus/St. Virgilius basketball program is underway with about 150 local kids from 4th grade to 8th grade, playing in the Girls and Boys leagues. Here are some standout players this week.

Evelyn Adams

Girls League

Evelyn is a strong player who dominated this game under the boards on both ends of the court, but that’s not all she can do. She plays very much like a lot of the tall players who play professionally. Meaning she doesn’t just rebound and score in the paint. She’s got a sweet shot from anywhere on the court, which makes her almost impossible to defend. Her outstanding performance led her team to a hard fought 4-point victory.

Brendan Graves

Junior Boys League

Brendan took over this game from the second the game started. He is a smooth player who has every move in the book. Brendan was scoring at will and there was nothing the opposing team could do to slow him down. His mid-range jump shots and his drives to the basket were simply unstoppable. He scored a very impressive 27 points which allowed his team to pull away with a wellww-deserved win.

Ben Good

Senior Boys League

Ben was a clear example this week that it’s not always how much you score, but when you score that impacts the game the most. As the game neared the end, the team in the lead seemed to change every few seconds. This is when Ben took over. With the score tied he knocks down a 3-pointer. Seconds later, with his team trailing, he knocks down another three. Then with the game tied once again, he nails the biggest 3-pointer of all. His fifth in the game, his third in the 4th quarter, and the one that put his team in the lead for good.
