St. Camillus / St. Virgilius MVPs of the Week

By Bill Swensen
The St. Camillus/ St. Virgilius basketball program is underway with 150 local kids from 4th grade to 8th grade, playing in the Girls and Boys leagues. Here are some standout players this week.
Jenna O’Brien
Girls League
Jenna is the kind of player that every coach wants to have on their team, not only because she can do it all, but because she is at her best when the pressure is on. Her team was down five headed into the 4th quarter, but then it turned into Jenna time. She completely took over the game in crunch time, scoring 10 of her 13 points in the last few minutes of the game. Her clutch play led the Green team to a hard fought 3-point victory.
Brogan Hearn
Junior Boys
League
Brogan is clearly the go-to guy on his team. The lead in this game went back-and-forth the whole way, but whenever the Blue team needed a big basket to keep them close, there was Brogan knocking down a big shot. He’s a very talented player with all the tools needed to be a star. It was a one-point game with seven seconds to go. The Tan team had the ball under their own basket. Brogan stepped up again and got his team the big stop they needed. His 15 points and timely defense led his team to an exciting one-point win.
Paul Pedone
Senior Boys
League
Paul is clearly one of the best players in the league. He’s simply a scoring machine. He’s deadly from behind the arc, but if you try to take that part of his game away, he will simply steamroll towards the basket and use his unstoppable moves to score at will on the inside. He led all scorers with an impressive 25 points, which was more than enough to secure a 10-point victory for the Blue team.
