St. John’s Celebrates ICARE
On September 29, Episcopal Health Services, celebrated the launch of its new philanthropic entity, the St. John’s ICARE Foundation, with a cocktail reception at the Rockaway Hotel with more than 200 guests in attendance
The St. John’s ICARE Foundation, which stands for Innovation, Compassion, Respect and Empathy, fosters a culture of philanthropy to secure, manage and distribute gifts in support of the mission and vision of St. John’s Episcopal Hospital.
Since its establishment in May 2022, the St. John’s ICARE Foundation has built a culture of giving by raising awareness and funds in support of equipment, capital projects, special programs and community initiatives, including: $20,000 for a new GE Giraffe Incubator Care station and $20,000 for four GE Bili Soft Phototherapy Systems through Giving Tuesday Campaigns; $100,000 towards St. John’s Episcopal Hospital’s Labor and Delivery project and $120,000 its towards equipment for the Margaret O. Carpenter Women’s Health Center through Invitational Golf Tournaments; In-kind donations of food, PPE and comfort items, as well as $10,000 towards a recharge room for our Healthcare Heroes through the COVID-19 Emergency Fund; Over $400,000 in private grant money to fund projects such as Telehealth and the new Mobile Health Unit; Donations and in-kind support, with the help of the Hospital Auxiliary, provided 2000 school backpacks and over 3000 holiday toys for children, over 1000 baby bags for new moms and holiday gifts to over 100 families though the “Adopt-a-Family” program.
Renee Hastick-Motes, President of the St. John’s ICARE Foundation said, “We are so grateful for the generosity of individual donors and organizations who support our mission. This is just the beginning of what St. John’s can do to improve the health of our communities.”
