 SummerSlam, AEW & More

Hey Wrestle Talk Fans! Welcome to another week and without any delays, let’s get right to it!

The WWE is reporting that Roman Reigns, the current Undisputed Universal Champion, suffered an injury during the Tribal Combat Main Event Match, at this year’s SummerSlam premium live event. The exact type of injury is still unknown, and reports are saying that the injury will not keep him off any television time. We will keep you posted.

So, by now, if you watched this year’s SummerSlam, you would know that Shayna Baszler defeated Ronda Rousey. I received many emails this week regarding Ronda’s departure, and many are asking why? Ronda’s contract with the WWE has a “Hard Out” Clause, which means Ronda had a Non-Negotiable Date, when the contract would end, and she would leave the WWE. Reports confirm that she is looking forward to pursing more television and movie opportunities. We wish Ronda the best in all her future endeavors.

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has recently released a new CM Punk Trans Pride shirt. The shirt is only available for a limited time and can be purchased at ShopAEW.com. All royalties from the shirt sales will be donated to The Trevor Project.

Staying with AEW, they announced that on their August 12, 2023 edition of AEW “Collision” TV show, there will be a Women’s Tag Team Match that will see Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale face off against Mercedes Martinez and Diamante. This match was booked due to Mercedes Martinez attacking Kris Statlander (Women’s Champion) after their match on the August 5 edition of Collision. The match will see all four of these women battle each other, and it may lead to an opportunity to face Kris Statlander in a future title match.

For over a month now, we have been hearing of a potential match between Twitter (now known as X) owner, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg, owner of Meta - Facebook/Instagram. Now, this rumored fight has been discussed to be an MMA Style Match. But just recently, WWE Commentator Corey Graves has hinted that he may be interested in doing live commentary for the match. If this match were to take place, would Cory Graves be the right choice to do live commentary? Send us your thoughts!

The Question of The Week comes from Brian H. in Arverne By The Sea and he asked, “Do you happen to know how much Ronda Rousey makes working for the WWE?” Hi Brian, Ronda’s current deal with the WWE, which just ended was reported to be $1.5 million, with another $2.1 million assessed with rewards and product deals. She is definitely well paid for her work schedule with the WWE. That’s all the information I have on her WWE Deal. Thank you for the question!

If you have any questions or comments, please send them to eavil183@yahoo.com, and have a great weekend!
