Rockaway Market Street @ Beach 60th

On Saturday, September 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Rockaway Market Street @ Beach 60th and the Rockaway Freeway to shop from local vendors. Nick Demopoulos will be the musical performer.

 

Climate Week NYC Dune

Planting

On Saturday, September 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Beach Front Road and Beach Way (between Beach 62nd and Beach 65th Streets) to join RISE for a hands-on dune restoration as part of “Greater Rockaway” Coastal Resilience Plan during Climate Week NYC. Help plant native plants and shrubs to build the dune. Students can receive community service credit.

 

RAA Exhibition: Portal

On Saturday, September 28 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., head to Rockaway Artist Alliance’s T7 Gallery in Fort Tilden to see their newest art exhibit. Open weekends 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. through October 13.

 

NYC Plover Project Bird Walk

On Saturday, September 28 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., head to 190 Beach 44th Street to join NYC Plover Project on a fall migration bird walk, followed by a discussion on biodiversity. See @nycploverproject on Instagram for more details on how to register.

 

Local Filmmakers’ Showcase

Movies Under the Stars: Migration

On Saturday, September 28 at 7:30 p.m., head to the Beach 94th Amphitheater to watch a family friendly film, “Migration.” Bring a blanket.

 

Beachcombing with a Ranger at Riis

On Sunday, September 29 at 10 a.m., head to the flagpole at Bay 9 on the Riis Park boardwalk to take a walk on the beach with a ranger and see what the shore has to offer!

 

Jamaica Bay 101

On Sunday, September 29 at 10:30 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a Park Ranger to learn about Jamaica Bay’s history and wildlife! Meet in front of the visitor center for a guided walk of the West Pond Trail. Sunscreen, insect repellant, and sturdy footwear encouraged. Binoculars available.

 

Beach 116th Fall Festival

On Sunday, September 29 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., head to Beach 116th Street to enjoy a day of family fun. Pumpkin patch, petting zoo, rides, maze, live music, vendors and more!

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head to Beach 60th and the boardwalk to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

 

Birding for Beginners

On Sundays through Sept. 29, at 1:30 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to learn about birding. You’ll take a nature walk, talk about what makes Jamaica Bay such a great place for birds, and learn the basics of bird identification and appreciation. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended, binoculars available.

 

Yoga with Soupy

On Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:30 a.m., head to Beach 102nd Street for a yoga class led by Soupy Campbell.

 

Floyd Bennett Field Kayaking

On Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m., head to the Floyd Bennett Field Seaplane Ramp in Brooklyn for kayaking for beginners. Open to ages 6 and up with an adult.
