Rockaway Beach Turkey Trot

On Thanksgiving Thursday, November 28, the Rockaway Track Club is hosting the Healy’s Pub and Run Rockaway Turkey Trot. Check in at Healy’s Pub (108-07 Rockaway Beach Dr.) at 9 a.m. for day-of registration and bib pickup. The 5K race starts on the boardwalk at Beach 108th at 10 a.m. Pre-register at www.Rockawaytc.org

Winter Waterfowl Workshop

On Saturday, November 23 at 10 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to enjoy a slideshow focused on bird identification, followed by a hike around the East and West Ponds, led by the American Littoral Society’s Jamaica Bay Guardian, Don Riepe. The focus will be ducks, geese, and many other species of winter birds and wildlife.

St. Camillus Christmas Boutique

On Saturday, November 23 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, November 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., head to St. Camillus Springman Hall (180 Beach 100th Street) to shop from more than 30 local vendors. 50/50 cash raffle, raffles and more.

Shake & Shop

On Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., head to My Mother’s Place 2 (921 Crossbay Blvd.) in Broad Channel to enjoy milkshakes while you shop from local vendors.

Shredding Event

On Saturday, November 23 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., head to Arverne East (190 Beach 44th Street) to shred your old documents for safe disposal.

Defensive Driving

Class

On Tuesdays, December 3 and December 10 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., head to St. Camillus Cottage, adjacent to the church, at 99-15 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, for a Six Hour Defensive Driving Class. Save a minimum 10% on liability, collision and no-fault insurance or get four points off your license.  $45 guarantees you a seat. You must attend both nights. Call Don Henglein at 917-553-2408 to sign up. Proceeds benefit St. Camillus church.

Hawk Watch

On Saturdays through November 30, at 10:30 a.m., head to Battery Harris in Fort Tilden to join a park ranger for the chance to see birds of prey like osprey, peregrine falcons, and bald eagles as they fly overhead. Learn to ID them by silhouette and at rest. Cancelled if raining.

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays through May 3, at 11 a.m., head to the Far Rockaway Library (1637 Central Ave.) to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

On Thursdays through May 1, at 6 p.m., head to the Arverne meeting room (312 Beach 54th Street) to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

Uplifted Dance Fitness

On Mondays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m., head to Redfern Community Center (1544 Hassock Street) for a free dance workout class with Miss Dawn.

Free Food Giveaway

On Wednesdays at 11 a.m., head to Battalion Pentecostal Assembly Church (454 Beach 67th Street) to receive a package of free food and produce.
