Arverne East Nature Preserve Cleanup

On Fridays April 18 and 25, head to the Arverne East Nature Preserve at 190 Beach 44th Street to help NYC Parks pick up trash and clean up the area.

 

Solar Observation

for Earth Day

On Friday, April 18 at 1 p.m., head to the Arverne East Nature Preserve at 190 Beach 44th Street for free solar observing with NYC’s Amateur Astronomers Association (AAA)! AAA will have telescopes set up with safe solar filters to view sunspots, flares and prominences on the sun.

 

Broad Channel American Park Cleanup

On Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., head to Broad Channel American Park at W 22nd Road to join JBRPC for an Earth Day cleanup. Help remove trash and debris from the shoreline and surrounding public spaces while enjoying incredible views of Jamaica Bay. Gloves, bags, and tools will be provided. Rain or shine.

 

Junior Ranger Day

On Saturday, April 19 at 10 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for Junior Ranger Day! Junior Rangers (of all ages!) will have the chance to earn their own ranger badge by completing activities and going on a nature walk. Activities will take place at the visitor center all day and ranger-led nature walks will take place at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

 

Easter Giveaway

for Kids

On Saturday, April 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., head to 34-11 Beach Channel Drive for Flying3Sixty’s Easter giveaway featuring free haircuts, easter baskets, toys, clothing, pictures with the Easter bunny and more for kids ages 3 to 13.

 

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

On Saturday, April 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Christ Presbyterian Church (102 Noel Road) in Broad Channel for Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. Enjoy a delightful breakfast- omelets, eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee, tea and juice, meet the Easter Bunny, and connect with your community while supporting our church. Adults $12; Children $7.

 

BC Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday, April 19 at 3 p.m., head to the BCAC Field (125 Cross Bay Blvd.) for an egg hunt, games, races and pictures with the Easter bunny. Bring your own basket or buy one for $2.

On Sunday, April 20 at 1 p.m., head to Rockaway Community Garden at Almeda Ave. and Beach 54th Street for Brothers for Peace’s annual egg hunt. Over 1,000 eggs, cash prizes for finding golden eggs.

 

Basic Seated Exercise Class

On Tuesday, April 22 at 11 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard) for a back-to-basics seated exercise class with Anna Wiley. All are welcome to participate in a low-impact workout that will include body conditioning and stretching, with an emphasis on correct posture and alignment.

 

Art Exhibition: Noticin’

On weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for Noticin’, an art exhibit joyfully exposing Jamaica Bay’s shoreline clutter.

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays through May 3, at 11 a.m., head to the Far Rockaway Library (1637 Central Ave.) to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

 

Chair Movement

Class

On Monday and Wednesdays at 10 a.m., head to Temple Beth-El (201 Beach 121st Street) for Chair Movement class, stretching and strengthening for your whole body. Donation based.

 

Cardio Punch

On Thursdays through May 1, at 6 p.m., head to the Arverne meeting room (312 Beach 54th Street) to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all.

 

Uplifted Dance Fitness

On Mondays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m., head to Redfern Community Center (1544 Hassock Street) for a free dance workout class with Miss Dawn.
