On Thursday, June 5 at 8:45 p.m., head to the Beach 94th Amphitheater to watch family-friendly movie Moana. Bring a blanket.
Rockaway Irish Festival
On Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8, head to the St. Camillus lot at Beach 100th and Shore Front Parkway for two days of Irish music, vendors, food, drinks, kids’ activities and more. $15 for adults. Free for kids 12 and under.
Discovery Hike: Marine Mammals
On Sunday, June 8 at 11 a.m., head to Beach 44th and the boardwalk to join an Urban Ranger for a discussion on Rockaway’s wildlife including whales and other mammals.
Queens Culture Clash
On Sunday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for an event featuring sportscards, comics, Pokémon, Funko and collectibles. Pokémon tournament for kids at noon. The first 100 kids get a free pack of baseball cards, 50/50 and other raffles to benefit RBAF.
Defensive Driving Class
On Wednesdays, June 10 and 17, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., head to the St. Camillus Cottage, adjacent St. Camillus Church (99-15 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a 6-Hour Defensive Driving Course. Barbara Hillary Day
On Thursday, June 12 at 10:30 a.m., head to the Barbara Hillary sculpture rock in RISE Educational Garden and “Honor Walk Way” (190 Beach 44th Street), to honor and remember the first African American woman (and Arverne resident) to reach both the North Pole and the South Pole.
FBF Kayaking for Beginners
On Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m., head to the Floyd Bennett Field Seaplane Ramp for kayaking for beginners. Open to ages 6 and up with an adult. Dress to get wet, wear shoes that will not fall off. Bring water, sunscreen, and a snack. Kayaks, personal floatation devices, and instruction provided.
