Rockaway Creates Craft Sale

On Thursday, June 12 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., head to 7311 Spinnaker Drive to buy crafts from various Rockaway Creates vendors.

 

Coladas for a Cause

On Friday, June 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., head to Connolly’s (155 Beach 95th Street) for a fundraiser for RISE’s youth programs: Shore Corps, Living Classroom, and Environmentor. $20 entry includes one free drink. There will be a 50/50 and a raffle with RISE swag.

 

Community Bird Walk

On Saturday, June 14 at 10 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a free birding tour led by NYC Plover Project.

 

Birding Atop Fort Tilden

On Saturday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m., head to the observation deck of Battery Harris East in Fort Tilden and join field guides for the chance to see birds of all kinds. Binoculars and a scope will be provided. Cancelled if raining.

 

Fort and Dunes Hike

On Sunday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m., head to Building 1 (1 Murray Rd.) in Fort Tilden to join a park ranger on a guided nature walk on trails and learn about the history of the area. This program includes walking for approximately 2 miles on uneven terrain.

 

Rockaway WISH Career Night

On Monday, June 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for a career night for high school, college students and recent grads. There will be volunteers from numerous fields to give advice. Resumes not required but encouraged.

 

BHPOA Meeting

On Tuesday, June 17 at 7 p.m., head to the Belle Harbor Yacht Club for the Belle Harbor Property Owners Association monthly meeting featuring updates from NYPD Crossing Guards, JBRPC, U.S. Park Police and DSNY.

 

Juneteenth Freedom Day

On Thursday, June 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., head to Bayswater Park on Beach 35th and the bay to celebrate Juneteenth with a barbecue, music, games, performances and more. Must RSVP to rockjuneteenth@gmail.com

 

FBF Kayaking for Beginners

On Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m., head to the Floyd Bennett Field Seaplane Ramp for kayaking for beginners. Open to ages 6 and up with an adult. Dress to get wet, wear shoes that will not fall off. Bring water, sunscreen, and a snack. Kayaks, personal floatation devices, and instruction provided.

 

Ranger Walk at the Refuge

On Saturdays through June 28 at 11 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for ranger-led hikes through the trails in search of birds, plants and other wildlife.

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m. through June 28, head to Beach 60th and the boardwalk for a free class involving punching and kicking combinations.

 

RAA’s Art Exhibits

On Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Rockaway Artists Alliance’s studio 7 in Fort Tilden for their exhibits “Lean on Me: Everyday Acts of Humanity” and “Structures: Portals.”

 

MasterFitness Complete

On Mondays at 11 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) to join Ann Fosteris for a free exercise class.

 

Core on the Floor

On Mondays at 11:45 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) to join Ann Fosteris for a 30-minute class that focuses on core and lower body.

 

Uplifted Dance Class

On Mondays and Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m., head to the Beach 32nd Street Football Field (Beach 32nd and the boardwalk) for a free dance workout class with Miss Dawn.

 

Yoga on the Beach
