Fire Control Tower Excursion
On Friday, June 20 at 9 a.m., head to Riis Landing near the Marine Parkway Bridge to join a kayak paddle along the shoreline past Rockaway Cove to the WWII Fire Control Tower. Enjoy a natural history discussion and return with incoming tide. Dress to get wet, wear shoes that will not fall off, and bring water, sunscreen, and a snack. Rock the Block Homecoming
On Saturday, June 21 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., head to the Rockaway YMCA Field (207 Beach 73rd St.) for Rock the Block HBCU Homecoming. The event will feature music, food, activities, field games, performances, prizes, resources, celebrity guests and more.
Conversation Chalk Art

Pet Adoption Event
On Saturday, June 21 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., head to Freeway Dog Run on Beach Channel Drive and Beach 83rd Street to adopt a kitten, cat or dog from the North Shore Animal League America Mobile Adoption Van. All animals have received required shots and a clean bill of health.
Beach 116th Fireworks & Opening
On Saturday, June 21 at 7 p.m., head to Beach 116th Street and the boardwalk to enjoy music by Roadkill Country Outlaws and a fireworks show at 9 p.m., in celebration of Beach 116th being reopened.
