Birding Atop Fort Tilden
On Saturday, July 5 at 2:30 p.m., head to the observation deck of Battery Harris East in Fort Tilden and join field guides for the chance to see birds of all kinds. Binoculars and a scope will be provided. Cancelled if raining.
Riis Landing Kayaking for Beginners
On Saturday, July 5 at 1 p.m., head to Riis Landing for kayaking for beginners. Open to ages 6 and up with an adult. No reservation required. Dress to get wet and bring water. Kayaks, paddles, lifejackets and instruction provided.
Queensboro Dance Festival
On Saturday, July 5 at 6 p.m., head to Beach 17th and the boardwalk for a series of dance performances as part of the Queensboro Dance Festival.
Community Reiki Circle
On Sunday, July 6 at 12:15 p.m., head to Queens Public Library of Far Rockaway (1637 Central Ave.) to join Dana Humphrey for guided meditation and Reiki.
Rockaway Refresh at B. 98th and B 17th
On Monday, July 7 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., head to Beach 98th or Beach 17th and the boardwalk for a shoreline cleanup with JBRPC after the busy weekend.
Rockaway Cove Paddle
On Thursday, July 10 at 1 p.m., head to Riis Landing by the Marine Parkway Bridge for a kayaking trip along the cove toward Rockaway Point. Dress to get wet, wear shoes that will not fall off, and bring water, sunscreen, and a snack. Kayaks, personal floatation devices, paddles and instruction will be provided. Rockaway Warriors Parade
On Thursday, July 10 at around 6:30 p.m., line the streets of Rockaway Beach Blvd. from Beach 149th to Beach 120th Street to cheer on Hope for the Warriors as they arrive into town for a weekend of fun on the water.
Rockaway Beach Civic Association Meeting
On Thursday, July 10 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) back patio for the RBCA meeting. Speakers include Kim Fraczek, Director and JK Canepa, Coordinator of Sane Energy Project and Saylor Pochan, Chair Emeritus of Surfrider Foundation NYC; to discuss the revived Williams NESE Pipeline Proposal and related next steps.
RAA’s Art Exhibits
On Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Rockaway Artists Alliance’s studio 7 in Fort Tilden for their exhibits “Lean on Me: Everyday Acts of Humanity” and “Structures: Portals.”
Birding for Beginners
On Sundays through July 27 at 2 p.m. head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a ranger to take a nature walk, learn about what makes Jamaica Bay a great place for birds, and learn the basics of bird identification and appreciation. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended, binoculars available.
Yoga on the Beach
On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 8:30 a.m., head to Beach 102nd Street for yoga on the beach with Soupy. For info, call 347-804-2559.
Uplifted Dance Class
On Mondays and Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m., head to the Beach 32nd Street Football Field (Beach 32nd and the boardwalk) for a free dance workout class with Miss Dawn.
