BC 9/11 Ceremony

On Thursday, September 11 at 7 p.m., head to the VFW Post 260 (705 Shad Creek Road) in Broad Channel to commemorate the 24th Anniversary of 9/11 with VFW members.

 

Honey Festival

On Saturday, September 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., head to Beach 106th and the boardwalk to enjoy Honey Fest! Buy products from vendors like Rockaway Honeyworks and more, sample, see demonstrations and a performance by Aerial Acoustics from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

 

Adaptive Cycling at FBF

On Saturday, September 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., head to Floyd Bennett Field as Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy and Achilles International hold adaptive cycling for people with disabilities. Enjoy a a ride on a tandem bike or handcycle. Please wear a helmet if you have one.

 

Breezy Point

9/11 Race

On Saturday, September 13 at 10 a.m., the Breezy Point Remembers 9/11 Race kicks off at the Roxbury 9/11 Memorial, to the Breezy Point 9/11 Memorial, followed by an after party at the Breezy Ballfield. To register, head to www.bpremembers911.com

 

Riis Landing Kayaking

for Beginners

On Saturday, September 13 at 1 p.m., head to Riis Landing for kayaking for beginners. Open to ages 6 and up with an adult. No reservation required. Dress to get wet and bring water. Kayaks, paddles, lifejackets and instruction provided.

RAA’s Portal Exhibit

On Saturdays and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., head to the sTudio 7 Gallery in Fort Tilden for the Rockaway Artist Alliance’s latest exhibit in conjunction with 4head’s Portal: Art With Sand In Its Teeth. Enjoy the work in various mediums from 36 artists. Open through September 21.

 

Birding for Beginners

On Saturdays through September 27 at 2 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a ranger to take a nature walk, and learn the basics of bird identification. Binoculars available.

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head to Beach 60th and the boardwalk to join Gloria for Cardio Punch, a total body workout for all levels. Punch, hook, and kick to motivating, high-energy music that progress into heart-pumping combinations.

 

Yoga on the Beach

On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 8:30 a.m., head to Beach 102nd Street for yoga on the beach with Soupy. For info, call 347-804-2559.

 

Free Art Classes

On Mondays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., head to 205 Beach 96th Street to enjoy free mixed media art classes in conjunction with Ordervision, NYFA and others.

 

Uplifted Dance Class

On Mondays and Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m., head to the Beach 32nd Street Football Field (Beach 32nd and the boardwalk) for a free dance workout class with Miss Dawn.
