Winter Birding at Floyd Bennett Field
On Saturday, January 31 at 9:30 a.m., head to The Nest/Building 135 at 135 Aviation Rd. at the entrance of Floyd Bennett Field to join NYC Bird Alliance and Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy to spot winter visitors like shovelers, scoters, and mergansers. Bring binoculars or a scope if you have them. Limited binoculars will be available.
Seaweed Grand Opening
On Saturday, January 31 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., head to new cannabis shop Seaweed (73-13 Beach Channel Drive) for a grand opening celebration with promos, giveaways, specials and more. Must be 21+.
Queens Culture Clash
On Sunday, February 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for a buy, sell, trade event for sports and Pokémon cards, Funko, autographs and other collectibles. Food for sale from Jack’s Corner. 50/50 raffle to benefit Rockaway Beach Autism Families.

Clean Beaches 101
On Thursday, February 5 at 7 p.m., RISE, NYC H2O, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are hosting a virtual workshop on the ecology of Jamaica Bay and its ecological and social value, the impact of marine debris and the various methods for its disposal, and waste reduction bills in the NYS Legislature intended to reduce marine debris and promote sustainable local beaches. V-Day 5K & Half Marathon
On Saturday, February 14, Rockaway Track Club hosts its Valentine’s Day 5K and half marathon runs. For bib pickup, check in and day-of registration, head to Healy’s Pub (108-07 Rockaway Beach Dr.) at 8 a.m. The runs begin on the Beach 108th boardwalk at 9 a.m.
