Spring Migration Bird Walk

On Saturday, April 4 at 10 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) to join NYC Plover Project and NYC Bird Alliance for a FREE guided birding tour along the Rockaway shoreline. Binoculars will be provided first come, first served, though you may bring your own. Please dress accordingly and bring a water bottle.

 

Food Pantry

On Sunday, April 5 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., head to House on the Rock (111-22 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for free shelf-stable prepackaged food items while supplies last. Bring a bag.

 

Sunday Sanctuary Reiki

On Sunday, April 5 at 12:15 p.m., head to Ocean Bliss at the Belle Harbor Yacht Club (533 Beach 126th Street, 2nd Floor) for a free 60-minute reiki circle to seek calm, connection and renewal. Donations welcome.

 

A Taste of Natural Healing

On Monday, April 6 at 10 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) as Alexandra G. Taggart, certified instructor of Dragon’s Way Qigong, leads a FREE thirty-minute class. The Four Energy Gates is a practice to awaken the body’s energy flow. Think almost like an acupuncture treatment, but you are the practitioner!

On Monday, April 6 at 11 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) as Ann Fosteris teaches a FREE exercise class. For all ages and fitness levels.

 

Core on the Floor

On Monday, April 6 at 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a FREE thirty-minute class, led by Ann Fosteris, that focuses on core and lower body. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels!

 

9/11 Mosaic Fundraiser

On Friday, April 10 at 7 p.m., head to the Belle Harbor Yacht Club (533 Beach 126th Street) for a fundraiser to help restore the 9/11 mosaic at Tribute Park. Live music, buffet dinner, open bar, raffles, etc. Tickets are $150. Head to www.rockaways9-11tribute­park.com/

 

Spring Marathon,

Half & 5K

On Saturday, April 11, Rockaway Track Club hosts its marathon, half marathon and 5K. Bib pickup, t-shirts and check in starting at 6:30 a.m. at the Beach 94th Amphitheater. Races begin on the boardwalk at 8 a.m. Pre-register at www.rockawaytc.org

 

Body Weight Circuit Training

On Tuesdays at 7 p.m., head to the Sorrentino Recreation Center (18-48 Cornaga Ave.) for a free body weight circuit training class with Edith. Membership not required. Ongoing through May.

 

Rockaway Game Club

On Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., head to Bungalow Bar (377 Beach 92nd Street) to join Rockaway Game Club for a night of games! $10 for first-timers, $5 for return adventurers. All ages welcome. Stop by anytime. Follow @rockawaygameclub for more!

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head the Far Rockaway Library (1637 Central Ave.) to join Gloria for Cardio Punch, a total body workout for all levels. Punch to the rhythms of motivating music. Through April.

 

Free Classes Spring Semester

Aging Mastery Program

Kingsborough Community College is hosting a free virtual program for those 50 and older on Tuesdays from April 21 through June 16 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Topics include navigating longer lives, exercise & you, sleep, healthy eating and hydration, financial fitness, medication management, advance planning, healthy relationships, fall prevention, community engagement and more!
