On Saturday, November 4 at 10 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a Park Ranger on a guided nature walk to learn about Jamaica Bay’s climate resiliency and to explore how the park’s ecosystems can mitigate the effects of climate change and extreme weather events.

 

Jamaica Bay Jr. Ranger Hike

On Sunday, November 5 at 10 a.m., head to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for a guided walk around one of the trails and learn what it takes to become a Jr. Ranger! Children will use their different senses as we explore all that the refuge has to offer. Program followed by an official Jr. Ranger “swear-in” ceremony. This is an all-weather walk, so dress for the conditions.

 

Health & Wellness Screenings

On Sunday, November 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., head to 464 Beach 67th Street for free health screenings by Quest Diagnostics. Find out about your diabetes risk, heart health, liver, kidney, bones and thyroid. Also free vision and hearing tests, Covid and flu vaccines and more. Nature Preserve Exploration

On Sunday, November 5 at 11 a.m., head to Beach 44th Street and the boardwalk to explore the Arverne East Nature Preserve with a guide. Learn more about the different species found on this trail.

 

Hearts & Shamrocks Dance

On Saturday, November 11 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at St. Camillus Springman Hall, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade honorees will be announced and celebrated. Food, drinks, music by Celtic Justice. Tickets are $65 or $600 for a table of 10. Call 917-224-8589 or stop by Rogers for tickets.

 

JASA Weekly Arts

On Thursdays at 10 a.m., adults 60+ are welcome to JASA Rockaway Park Older Adult Center (106-20 Shore Front Parkway) for weekly painting/arts and crafts. Let your creativity be free! To RSVP and for more details, call: 718-634-3044.

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head to the boardwalk at Beach 60th Street for this total body, non-contact workout. Punch, hook, and kick to motivating, high-energy music that progress into heart-pumping combinations.

 

Chair Movement Class

On Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m., head to Temple Beth-El on Beach 121st Street for a Chair Movement Class led by Christine Walker. Donation based.

 

Master Fitness™

On Mondays, from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) as Ann Fosteris leads this free fitness class. All ages and fitness levels welcome.

 

Core on the Floor

On Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a free 30-minute class focusing on core and lower body and led by Ann Fosteris of Fitness to You. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels welcome!

 

Chair Yoga

On Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) as Ruth Graves, certified yoga instructor, teaches a FREE chair yoga class. All levels welcome.
