Veterans Day Ceremony

On Saturday, November 11 at 11 a.m., head to the Doughboy Monument on Beach 94th and Rockaway Beach Blvd. to join the American Legion for their annual Veterans Day ceremony and prayer service.

 

Marsh Market Walk

On Saturday, November 11 at 1 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join Ranger Jesse on an interpretive nature walk to the living shoreline. Topics of discussion include indigenous history of NYC, marsh ecology, native plants and their traditional uses.

 

Hearts & Shamrocks Dance

On Saturday, November 11 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at St. Camillus Springman Hall, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade honorees will be announced and celebrated. Food, drinks, music by Celtic Justice. Tickets are $65 or $600 for a table of 10. Call 917-224-8589 or stop by Rogers for tickets.

 

Flight 587 Ceremony

On Sunday, November 12 at 8 a.m., head to Beach 116th and the boardwalk to the Flight 587 Memorial for the annual ceremony to remember those who died in the plane crash 22 years ago.

 

Thanksgiving Food Drive

On Sunday, November 12, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., head to either local Stop & Shop location in Arverne or Rockaway Park, to drop off non-perishable food items for the 100th Precinct Community Council’s Food Drive.

Market

On Sunday, November 12 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., head to the Rockaway Brewing Co. (415 Beach 72nd Street) to shop from local vendors. Plus enjoy live music and Jamaican cuisine for purchase.

 

JASA Weekly Arts

On Thursdays at 10 a.m., adults 60+ are welcome to JASA Rockaway Park Older Adult Center (106-20 Shore Front Parkway) for weekly painting/arts and crafts. Let your creativity be free! To RSVP and for more details, call: 718-634-3044.

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head to the boardwalk at Beach 60th Street for this total body, non-contact workout. Punch, hook, and kick to motivating, high-energy music that progress into heart-pumping combinations.

 

Hangar B Open House

On Sundays through Nov. 26, at 1 p.m., head to Hangar B at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn to tour the dozens of restored aircrafts currently housed in this former Naval Air Station Hangar and discover the many historic aviation firsts that happened right here at Floyd Bennett Field, from Wiley Posts first solo flight around the world to an air parade held in memory of Amelia Earhart who had disappeared earlier in the year.

 

Master Fitness™

On Mondays, from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) as Ann Fosteris leads this free fitness class. All ages and fitness levels welcome.

 

Core on the Floor

On Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a free 30-minute class focusing on core and lower body and led by Ann Fosteris of Fitness to You. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels welcome!

 

Chair Yoga

On Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) as Ruth Graves, certified yoga instructor, teaches a FREE chair yoga class. All levels welcome.
