Ramones Tribute Night

On Friday, January 12 at 6 p.m., head to the Rockaway Beach Surf Club (302 Beach 87th Steet) for a Ramones night featuring trivia at 7 p.m., music by Rob Bryn at 8 p.m. and The Rambones tribute band at 8:30 p.m., all raising awareness for an effort to name the Beach 94th Amphitheater as the Rockaway Beach Ramones Amphitheater.

 

Junior Ranger Club

On Saturday, January 13 at 10:30 a.m., head to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and join Ranger Zach to explore Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and all it has to offer. During this monthly program for children, explore different topics and talk about how to be a good steward for wildlife and nature. Program is followed by an official Jr. Ranger “swear-in” ceremony. This is an all-weather walk, so please dress for the conditions.

 

Mobile Health Screening

On Saturday, January 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., head to the Key Food Parking Lot at Beach 87th and Rockaway Beach Blvd. to join Episcopal Health Services for free anxiety, blood pressure, and cholesterol screenings. There will also be flu shots, HIV self-test Kits, and nutrition education.

 

MLK Day of Service

On Monday, January 15 at 10 a.m., head to JCCRP (1525 Central Ave.) to join in packing meals for 250 Holocaust survivors. For more info, call 718-327-7755 or email: info@jccrp.org

 

MLK Kids Craft

On Tuesday, January 16 at 4 p.m., head to Peninsula Library (92-25 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) to join Ms. Lucy in making a beautiful kids craft in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. For kids ages 6-11.

 

Anti-Human Trafficking Forum

On Wednesday, January 17 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., head to the Queens Community Justice Center- The Rockaways (1027 Beach 20th Street) to join for an educational forum on human trafficking featuring presentations by Chief Melton of DA Melinda Katz’s office, plus resources.

 

‘Sound of Freedom’ Screening

On Friday, January 19 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., head to The Child Center of NY (57-10 Beach Channel Drive) for a night putting a spotlight on human trafficking, with a self-defense course from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. (email xtrememeasureactivist@gmail.com  to RSVP) and a screening of the PG-13 film “Sound of Freedom” at 7 p.m. Popcorn and drinks.

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head to Seaside Library (116-15 Rockaway Beach Blvd.)  to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

 

Chair Yoga

On Tuesdays, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ruth Graves, certified yoga instructor, teaches a free 45-minute chair yoga class. Beginners to seasoned practitioners are welcome!

 

Poseidon’s Prom

Save the date! On Saturday, February 3 at 7 p.m., head to Connolly’s at 155 Beach 95th Street for Poseidon’s Prom! $20 at the door. Enjoy drinks, art and music, raffles and more to help support this summer’s Poseidon’s Parade!
