Land Use Committee

On Thursday, April 25 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., head to the Clinical Learning Center at St. John’s Hospital (19-09 Plainview Avenue) in Far Rockaway for Community Board 14’s Land Use meeting about construction of a two-family home at 2848 Faber Terrace, plus a discussion on the City of Yes Housing Opportunity proposal.

 

Denim Day

On Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., head to Hammel Playground on Beach 84th and Rockaway Beach Blvd. for Denim Day 2024. Help raise awareness for sexual assault and domestic violence and partake in various activities such as self-defense seminars, workout classes, Zumba, a vigil, and hear from speakers.

 

Tree Giveaway

On Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a free tree giveaway with New York Restoration Project. Registration required, otherwise first come first served after 11 a.m. For info, see: www.riserockaway.org/rise/events/

 

Hangar B Open House at FBF

On Sunday, April 28 at 1 p.m., head to Hangar B at Floyd Bennett Field to join a Park Ranger for an informal tour and exploration of Hangar B and the aircraft inside, which are part of Floyd Bennett Field’s aviation history.

 

Birding: Shorebirds

On Sunday, April 28 at 10 a.m., head to Beach 44th and the boardwalk to join Urban Park Rangers to the best viewing spots to see migratory birds. Learn more about plovers, terns, oystercatchers and other shorebirds that migrate to Rockaway Beach every year.

 

Cinco be Mammo

On Thursday, May 2 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., head to the Clinical Learning Center at St. John’s Hospital (19-09 Plainview Avenue) in Far Rockaway for an event celebrating women’s health with breast cancer screenings and other resources on women’s health. Food, drinks, lectures and more.

Rockaway Beach Civic

Meeting

On Thursday, May 2 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for the monthly Rockaway Beach Civic Meeting. Special guest: Eric Peterson, the Rockaway Administrator for NYC Parks.

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head to Beach 60th and the boardwalk to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

 

Master Fitness™

On Mondays from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris teaches a free 45-minute exercise class. All ages and fitness levels are welcome!


Core on the Floor

On Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris leads a free 30-minute class focusing on core and lower body. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels are welcome!

 

Seaside Movie Night

On Thursdays at 5 p.m., head to Seaside Library (116-15 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a seasonal selection of movies our adults and older adult movie fans will enjoy!

 

Crochet Club for Kids

On Fridays at 4 p.m., kids ages 6-11 are welcome Peninsula Library (92-25 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) to learn the basics of crocheting and how to make a scarf or handbag. Must call 718-634-1110 to reserve a space.

 

Free Aging Mastery Program
