Volunteers Needed for Adaptive Surf Program on July 27
Adaptive Surf NYC 2024 is coming to Beach 73rd Street on Saturday, July 27, and the organizers need you to lend a helping hand and help more than 100 people with disabilities experience riding the waves.
Adaptive Surf NYC 2024, is part of the “Play It Forward” program by Wheeling Forward, dedicated to empowering children, adults, and veterans with disabilities through transformative adaptive sports experiences. Made possible by Wheeling Forward, volunteers and the NYC Parks Department, the event will provide an inclusive, safe, and fun environment for participants to experience the thrill of adaptive surfing. It takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 27.
This event would not be possible without the help of volunteers and there are several roles that people can help with from registration to hospitality, set up and take down, athlete prep, shallow water athlete support, mid water athlete support and deep-water athlete support. Wheeling Forward is organizing this event to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and the power of sport to break down barriers.
