Answer the Call’s Soiree to Support First Responder Families

Can you Answer the Call? As a community full of first responders, on Thursday, May 8, there’s a chance to support the families of fallen first responders at Answer the Call’s Red, White and Blue Soiree.

Jake Schwartz, a dedicated supporter of the organization and whose father, Kevin, a retired police officer who worked down at Ground Zero after 9/11, knows the importance of supporting first responders and their families. He started interning with Answer the Call four years ago, an organization that provides financial assistance and support to families of NYPD, FDNY, PAPD, and EMS Personnel killed in the line of duty. Now he’s a member of the Associate Committee and helps plan events for the organization.

One of those events will take place next Thursday, May 8, with their 12th annual Red, White and Blue Soiree from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at SECOND NYC (849 6th Ave.) in Manahttan. The event includes cocktails, light bites, and a silent auction among friends. General admission is $175 but discount $110 tickets are available for active-duty NYPD, FDNY, and PAPD first responders. All attendees must be 21 years old or older.

“Given that the Rockaway peninsula is home to quite a few first responders, I thought this is a cause people should be aware of, especially because Rockaway is home to so many first responders and their families, and so many who support them, I consider it an honor to be a part of the organization, and I know many people on the peninsula feel the same way about helping out first responders,” Schwartz said. “This event is a great way to give back to those who gave everything for us, and it is something I look forward to every year.”
