Rockaway Beach Civic Association
On Thursday, May 1 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for the monthly RB Civic meeting. Special guest Elizabeth Walsack, the new Rockaway Administrator for Parks will be on hand to discuss the bike policy, summer planning and more.
Stargazing at Floyd Bennett Field
On Friday, May 2 at 8:30 p.m., head to Hangar Row next to the Community Garden at Floyd Bennett Field to join the Amateur Astronomers Association for free observing sessions! Event is 30 minutes after sunset. Cancelled if raining.
Belle Harbor Beach Cleanup
On Saturday, May 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to the beach wall at Beach 134th Street to join the Belle Harbor Property Owners Association in a beach cleanup. Bring a rake if you have one. Service credit hours available.
Run the Runways
On Saturday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., head to Floyd Bennett Field for a fun run and a day of history and a look into the future. Enjoy a 2-mile run, a DJ dance party, scavenger hunt, artwork, kids’ crafts, lawn games, picnic space and more. Pre-register for the run at Rockawattc.org. No registration required for the other events.
Earth Day Rockaway
On Saturday, May 3 from 12 p.m.to 3 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard) for a day of free environmental activities and programs for families and children of all ages. Enjoy live music, cooking demos, plantings, face painting, water testing, fire safety, free giveaways, and art-related booths to learn how to appreciate and conserve the earth’s resources.
World Labyrinth Day
On Saturday, May 3 at 12:30 p.m., head to the Beach 94th Labyrinth on Shore Front Parkway for a guided meditation with Dr. Nancy Gahles.
Sail Rockaway Opening Party
On Saturday, May 3 from 2 p.m. until dark, head to Marina 59 on Beach 59th Street and the bay for their season opening party. Free sailing tours and lessons, live jazz and $1 oysters. Family friendly.
Floor & Aerial Yoga Fusion
