Beach Sessions Dance Series Returns August 17

Beach Sessions Dance Series is returning for its tenth season. On Saturday, August 17, they’ll host a one-day performance of Faye Driscoll’s newest work.

All are welcome to head to Beach 106th at 6:30 p.m. for the dance performance among the sand, dunes, rocks and water. Driscoll’s latest work is a continuation of her ongoing research into the capacity of the body, heightened senses and the intensified mass of a group. A large cast will descend upon the beach-as-stage, blurring the line between spectacle and life. Beach goers and audience alike will be immersed in a multi-sensory scene evolving in their midst.

This work will be performed by James Barrett, Kara Brody, Leslie Cuyjet, Kaijo Caggins, Miguel Alejandro Castillo, Lena Engelstein, Neva Guido, David Guzman, Maya LaLiberte, Mor Mendel, Marie Lloyd Paspe, Katrina Reid, Cory Seals, Carlo Antonio Villanueva, Jo Warren and Devika Wickremesinghe. The choreographic assistant is Amy Gernux, Dages Juvelier Keates is the dramaturg and costumes and props are done by Karen Boyer. Beach Sessions Dance Series is curated by Sasha Okshteyn, and co-produced with Morgan Griffin and is sponsored by Black & White Project Space, a 501C(3) public charity.

This program is made possible by lead support from 7G Foundation with major funding provided by The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation.
