RBAF to End Autism Awareness Month with Fun!

Autism Awareness Month is coming to a close but not before going out with a bang. Rockaway Beach Autism Families is hosting two fun-filled events to raise awareness, and all are invited!

On Saturday, April 26, RBAF is hosting Radio Bingo with DJs@Work at the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street). Guests can play radio bingo to their favorite tunes for a chance to win some fabulous prizes, including gift cards to local businesses, baskets of joy and more. Bring your own snacks or enjoy food for purchase from Empanada on the Rise! Plus, complementary tea, coffee and desserts. Also, enjoy the cash bar and don’t forget to tear up the dance floor. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door or $300 for a table of 10. Doors open at 6 p.m. Proceeds benefit the South L.A., California Autism community devastated by the wildfires. A box will be available for donation drop offs.

Then finish out your weekend with a brisk walk on a beautiful day. On Sunday, April 27, RBAF is hosting its third annual Walk for Autism, along with Rockaway St. Camillus Special Olympics. Head to Beach 94th Street between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. to register.  Richie Mahoney will lead a warmup exercise to get people ready. The Best Dressed Man in Rockaway and Scholars’ Academy will be leading the walk to Beach 116th Street and back. At Beach 94th, there will be a vendor fair with goods to purchase like jewelry, accessories, novelty items, crafts and more. There will be giveaways and RBAF beanies for sale.
