IS BACK!

Get ready to shuck, slurp and toast at the Annual Rockaway Oyster Festival happening this year at new local hot spot, Smoke & Barrel. Known for serving up the holy trinity of oysters, music and beer, this year’s festival lives up to its reputation with three hours of unlimited Blue Island, Deep Water and Peconic Gold oysters, Blue Point and KONA beers, and live music by the Rock-A-Wades. The festival is a zero-waste event as all oyster shells are collected for the Billion Oyster Project, which aims to restore one billion oyster shells for reef protection at NY Harbor. Dress your pooch to impress, and even go home with a prize at this year’s Pawlacio Rockaway Dog Parade themed, “Dogtober Fest!” (Got your lederhosen and dirndls?) At 10 a.m., meet near the grassy area at Beach 108th Street and the hockey rink to collect parade badges and goodie bags. Then, at 11 a.m., join parade goers as they strut down the boardwalk to Beach 95th Street. Don’t forget to wag your tail at judges and the parade’s charity, ARF-ARF mascot, Rocky!
