St. Camillus / St. Virgilius MVP’s of the Week

Mara Brady
Girls League
Mara is clearly one of the top players in the league. She can do everything on the court: shoot, rebound, and she can finish strong at the basket. Her style of play is so smooth she makes everything look easy. She leads the league in scoring with an average of 21 points per game. Once again, she was the key factor that led her Green team to another victory this week. Keeping her team’s record a perfect 3-0.
PJ Murphy
Junior Boys League
PJ is a dynamo on the court. He sliced through the defense all game long. When he’s not going strong to the hoop, he’s using his silky-smooth shot to knock down 3’s. He led the game in scoring with 15 points. But scoring isn’t his only skill. He also was the captain of the team and perfectly orchestrated the offense. He was the main reason the Red team was able to secure another win and keep their undefeated season in tack.
James Williams
Senior Boys League
If you blink when James is breaking down the court, you’ll miss him. It’s like watching TV in fast motion. Once he gets going, he is unstoppable. The way he finishes at the basket is remarkable. And you can’t back up on James either just to stop him from driving because he’ll step up and knock down 3’s if you do. He scored 23 points while leading his undefeated team to a hotly contested 1-point victory.
Kendall Hayes
Senior Boys League
Kendall does everything on the court to help his team. He has infinite range from behind the 3-point line, just dropping amazing shots from all over the court. He also is a master of the fast break. He is a strong rebounder, and he loves taking the ball end-to-end. Once he’s off and running, he cannot be stopped. His 23 points were the main reason his team was able to keep the Yellow team’s record unblemished at 3-0.
William Kelly
Senior Boys League
I was unable to make the games last week for personal reasons, but I had to include William’s performance from last week in this week’s article. William destroys opposing teams on the inside with his rebounding and his ability to simply overpower opposing players with his strong moves to the basket. His 22 points led all scorers. This was an unbelievable game with the lead changing hands almost every time a team came down the court. It ended exactly as it should have. The Red team had the ball under the basket with 5 seconds on the clock. The ball got inbounded to, of course, William, and he ends up hitting a super clutch turn-around jumper from mid-range to give his team an amazing 1-point victory.
