The Havanese is the only dog breed native to Cuba, hence their name. A full grown Havanese is generally 9 to 12 inches tall and weighs 7 to 13 lbs. on average. Their body is longer than they are tall, and their tail curls over their back. They are a double coated breed, and their coats don’t fully develop until 3 to 4 years of age.
Unlike many small breeds, this breed is an extrovert who loves to be the center of attention. The Havanese is considered an easily trainable breed that is eager to please their humans. They are affectionate, playful and intelligent, and love human companionship. This highly social breed needs moderate exercise but, more importantly, needs lots of family time.
