BCVFD Haunted House

On October 31, November 1 and November 2, 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., head to the Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department at 15 Noel Road in Broad Channel, for their haunted house experience. $15 a ticket or $50 for group of four. Must by over 13 to enter without supervision.

Little North Pole Setup

On Saturday, November 2, starting at 9 a.m., head to the Little North Pole (144-03 Neponsit Ave.) to help unload trucks and start setting up the Little North Pole for the season. Those who are handy are encouraged to bring tools such as drills, clippers, etc. Community service hours available.

DuBois Point Cleanup

On Saturday, November 2 at 11 a.m., head to Dubois Point Sanctuary (62-15 De Costa Ave. in Arverne) to join JBRPC for a shoreline cleanup by helping to remove debris. Gloves, bags, and tools will be provided. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. The event is rain or shine.

Rockaway Food Festival

On Saturday, November 2 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., head to the Rockaway Hotel (108-10 Rockaway Beach Dr.)  for the first Rockaway Beach Food Festival. For $60, sample food from 10+ local restaurants, enjoy music by Wine With Sue, cash bar and more.

Fall Sunset Hike

On Sunday, November 3 at 4:15 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a park ranger on a sunset hike. Walk the trails, learn about the history of Daylight-Saving Time, and take time to appreciate all the sunshine we can. All ages welcome. Dress appropriately for the weather. Cancelled if heavy rain or storms.

Rockaway Beach Civic Meeting

On Thursday. November 7 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th) upstairs room for the monthly Rockaway Beach Civic meeting.

Community Board 14

On Tuesday, November 12 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for the monthly community board meeting. For public speaking, head there early to sign up to speak.

Run Rockaway Half Marathon & 5K

On Saturday, November 16, the Rockaway Track Club is hosting a Thanksgiving Half Marathon and 5K run. Check in at Healy’s Pub (108-07 Rockaway Beach Dr.) at 8 a.m. for day-of registration and bib pickup. Race starts on the boardwalk at Beach 108th at 9 a.m. Pre-register at Rockawaytc.org

Hawk Watch

On Saturdays through November 30 at 10:30 a.m., head to Battery Harris in Fort Tilden to join a park ranger for the chance to see birds of prey as they fly overhead during the peak fall migration. Learn to ID them by silhouette and at rest. Cancelled if raining.

Master Fitness™

On Mondays from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris teaches a free 45-minute exercise class. All ages and fitness levels are welcome!

Core on the Floor

On Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris leads a free 30-minute class focusing on core and lower body. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels are welcome!

Uplifted Dance Fitness

On Mondays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m., head to Redfern Community Center (1544 Hassock Street) for a free dance workout class with Miss Dawn.
