 Bungalow Fire Leaves One Dead

A fire broke out in a bungalow on Beach 109th Street on Monday, October 28, resulting in the death of a local woman.

FDNY responded to the fire at 175a Beach 109th Street at about 3:30 p.m. on Monday. In less than ten minutes after arriving, FDNY had the fire under control. However, firefighters found Maryann Traynor, 61, unconscious in the burning home, and she was pronounced dead at the scene by EMTs.

Her husband, Jack Traynor, was not home at the time of the fire. Still in shock, Traynor is beside himself with grief over his wife of 17 years. The family has established a GoFundMe to try to cover some of the funeral costs for Maryann. To donate, head to: www.gofundme.com/f/help-jack-with-marys-burial-costs

As the incident remains under investigation, it is unclear how the fire started or what the cause of death was for Maryann.
