Rockaway Market Street @ Beach 60th
On Saturday, August 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Rockaway Market Street @ Beach 60th and the Rockaway Freeway to shop from local vendors. Tito Lespier will be the musical performer. Edgemere Farm, Rockaway Soda, Rockaway Honeyworks, Mushroom Queens, Blacksmith’s Breads, and other local vendors will be there!
Jamaica Bay: A Refuge
On Saturday, August 10 at 10:30 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a Park Ranger on a tour to learn about the plants, animals, and geography that makes this place so special. There will be some meditative practices as well to find new ways to enhance our experiences in nature. Water, sunscreen, and bug spray are recommended.
RAA’s ‘All Who Wander’
On Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., head to T7 Gallery in Fort Tilden for Rockaway Artists Alliance’s summer exhibition, “All Who Wander.” On view through August 17.
Bella’s Voice Backpack Giveaway
On Saturday, August 10 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., head to O’Donohue Park on Beach 17th Street for a backpack giveaway in memory of Bella. Free school supplies and backpacks.
Jello Wrestling
On Saturday, August 10 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., head to Jerry Rea’s Lot at 74-11 Beach Channel Drive for a night of jello wrestling in an inflatable pool, live music, and more. Wrestlers drink free.
Zumba Under the Stars
On Thursdays through August 29, at 7 p.m., head to the Beach 108th Hockey Rink for a free Zumba workout class led by Lisa G.
Cardio Punch
On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head to Beach 60th and the boardwalk to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.
Mediative Moments
Every Sunday at 10 a.m., head to the Wise Clock at Riis Park join a Park Ranger for a meditative stroll on the beach and try out a few fun techniques to help you relax and enjoy the moment.
Outdoor Chair Yoga
On Monday, August 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., at RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), join Cynthia Carrion, certified yoga instructor, in a gentle form of yoga that is done while seated or using a chair for balance. The practice is a good, safe workout for beginners and focuses on the same core principles of yoga: focusing on your breath, paying attention to your thoughts, and staying in the moment.
Stretch & Meditation
On Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m., head to Beach 131st Street to join Jodi Heywood for a total body gentle stretch followed by a guided meditation. All levels welcome. Bring your towel and water. No class if inclement weather.
Yoga at Riis

Yoga with Soupy
On Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:30 a.m., head to Beach 102nd Street for a yoga class led by Soup Campbell.
Floyd Bennett Field Kayaking
On Saturdays and Sunday at 9:30 a.m., head to the Floyd Bennett Field Seaplane Ramp in Brooklyn for kayaking for beginners. Open to ages 6 and up with an adult. No reservation required. Dress to get wet, wear shoes that will not fall off, and bring water, sunscreen, and a snack. Kayaks, personal floatation devices, paddles and instruction will be provided.
