Rockaway Film Festival Seeks Submissions
Attention filmmakers! The Rockaway Film Festival needs YOU…to start sending submissions.
Earlier this month, Rockaway Film Festival opened up applications for submissions for its 9th annual Rockaway Film Festival, to be held from September 2-6. Each year, Rockaway Film Festival curates a multi-day festival with screenings at its outdoor Arverne Cinema and indoor Annex theater.
They are accepting film submissions of all lengths, styles and genres. Being on the coast, the landscape comes into consideration when selecting their annual program. “We seek films that shimmer and surprise,” the RFF said. Films completed in 2025 or 2026 are preferred, especially ones that have not yet been screened in New York or released online, but it’s not a requirement.

“Our festival takes a different shape each year. We carefully review every film submitted, but please note that much of our selection is curated through direct invitations in addition to open submissions,” RFF said.
Rockaway residents and those who have already had films screened at the RFF, are welcome to submit for free. RFF can be contacted at hello@rockawayfilmfestival.org for a waiver. All filmmakers who submit can receive a free ticket to any festival screening regardless of whether their film is selected.

Filmmakers have until March 27 to submit films for consideration. Notifications will be sent out by August 1. Submissions can be entered at https://filmfreeway.com/RockawayFilmFestival
