Ocean Bay Office Gets a New Look
Story and Photos

On Thursday, September 5, Ocean Bay Development Corporation Executive Director, Ebony Little John-Beatty, Deputy Director, Genevieve Appolon, and office coordinators Shereena Campbell and Marsha Holsley, celebrated the opening of their recently renovated main office. Coming from a hospital feel, Ocean Bay’s office is feeling more like home after the makeover, and many were happy with what they’ve seen so far.
Ocean Bay tenants and other organizations were invited to see the new and improved office on Beach 54th Street last Thursday. Efrain Echevarria, director of community engagement, who also did the construction, said it took at least two months to design the office once it was approved by Wavecrest Management to make the necessary changes. “I’m so thankful for Wavecrest making this happen,” Echevarria said.
Before the change, guests would walk in and see partitions in which the staff would all work in. Now the partitions are gone, so when you walk in, there’s a huge welcome sign and you can see who is actually in the office. They have a special room for the clients that come in to sit on brand new furniture and wait for their services to be rendered where they can watch television and have water. The offices are now very inviting and spread a more positive outlook through the different signage that is on the walls. There are also two new computers for the office to utilize. One major thing that was addresses was the smell of mold from leaks every time it rained. There is also new lighting and even a new paint job. This was done all for Ocean Bay residents and for those who have to work in that environment, and it’s a welcome change.
