 QueensLink Needed  More Than Ever

I would like to add a few points to Rick Horan’s excellent analysis of why we need QueensLink. In 2017, the MTA replaced the parallel Woodhaven Limited bus service with SBS including an exclusive bus lane that they promised would speed bus trips by up to 30% and would make the Rockaway Beach line reactivation (QueensLink) unnecessary. When the first-year numbers were in, the SBS only reduced bus trip times by 3% but only if you rode more than three miles. Since then, the speed limit was reduced from 35 mph to 25 mph so that bus trips as well as auto trips now take longer than they did before SBS, making QueensLink more necessary now than ever before.
