Rockaway Republican Club Provides Help for Hurricane Helene Victims

The Rockaway Republican Club (RRC) proudly announces the successful completion of its supply drive to support victims of Hurricane Helene, with the final donations now in Plymouth, North Carolina. The initiative was made possible through a strong collaboration between Rockaway community members and local partners.

In the aftermath of the storm, Mary Glynn, President of the RRC, reached out to Kalli Bond to offer the club’s assistance and to coordinate the addition of donations to their ongoing relief efforts with The America First Warehouse. With overwhelming support from the Rockaway community, the drive gathered essential supplies that were then loaded for transport.

On Friday, October 18, Uncle Jim Darmofal arrived in Rockaway with his pickup truck to collect the donations. He was met by RRC members, including Paul King, Margaret Powers, John Glynn, Brendan Glynn, Heidi Shannon, and Mary Glynn, who worked together to fill his truck with the items collected.

The donations were then transferred to a 50-foot trailer generously donated by John Valentino, owner of Westbury Trailer. John and his wife, Jennifer Valentino, personally drove the trailer to Plymouth, North Carolina, where it arrived on Saturday, October 19. The delivery will provide much-needed aid to those recovering from the effects of Hurricane Helene.

“We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this effort,” Mary Glynn said. “Special thanks to Kalli Bond, Uncle Jim, John and Jennifer Valentino of Westbury Trailer, and extra special thanks to our Rockaway Republican Club members, neighbors and friends for coming together to make this possible. We’re proud to have played a role in helping those impacted by Hurricane Helene, just as we were helped after Hurricane Sandy.”

This initiative is a testament to the community spirit that defines the Rockaway community, and the Rockaway Republican Club is committed to continuing its efforts to support those in need, both locally and beyond.
