The sun and hot weather made Saturday, June 28, a beautiful day for the 19th Annual RockStock and Barrels Festival.
The boardwalk to the skatepark to the beach from Beach 90th to Beach 92nd was bustling with activity showcasing talent across the board in Rockaway. From the Eastern Surfing Association and Skudin Surf surf contest to Riis Park Volleyball’s tournament to the vendors along the boardwalk, the tricks in the skate park and the musicians on the stage, it was an event not to be missed.
The annual tradition is made possible by Jimmy Dowd of St. James NYC, Boarders Surf Shop, and Walker Hornung of Into the Whip Records. “RockStock and Barrels NYC Surf/Skate and Music Festival 19 was a terrific day! We’d like to thank all the amazing, creative vendors and the generous sponsors of the surf, volleyball, and skate events. Huge appreciation to the talented musicians who performed their original music for such enthusiastic listeners,” Hornung said. Shoutout to the bands: Boulevard Bushmen, The Morning After, Glenn Strange, D.J. Rob, The Vibrotones, Derecho (with guest Walker), Samsara, Ryan Walfisch, and ….A Mad Revival at the after party.”
