The Rock, Alexa Bliss & AEW Grand Slam Event!

The Rock, Alexa Bliss & AEW Grand Slam Event!

Welcome to another week of Wrestle Talk. I want to say a special thank you to all the readers of this column. So, without further delay, let’s dive right in!

So, we have big news coming from the WWE as The Rock made a surprise return to WWE TV. He appeared on the September 15, 2023 edition of Smackdown, and interrupted a confrontation between Austin Theory and Pat McAfee. This eventually teased a possible Rock vs Austin Theory match, but in reality, this should be leading to a possible Rock vs Roman Reigns matchup at the next WrestleMania. Now, this was supposed to have happened already, but The Rock had to pull out due to other projects he was working on. Now, this leads us to present day. Will The Rock finally face off against The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns? I say YES!

Staying with the WWE, this past week, the WWE finally merged with the UFC to create TKO Group, which would operate under Endeavor, its parent company. As an unfortunate result of the merger, the WWE laid off close to 100 corporate employees. I’m not sure why this merger would have led to such a massive layoff, but a lot of people are unfortunately out of a job. WWE President Nick Khan has stated that the merger of both companies would be good for upcoming media rights. This would allow Endeavor to offer both WWE and UFC programming as a package deal to television companies.

By the time this column is published, AEW has held their Grand Slam event in Queens at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Here are some of the matches scheduled: AEW Tag Team Champions Billy Gunn & The Acclaimed (c) vs The Dark Order, ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champions Mogul Embassy (c) with Prince Nana vs The Hung Bucks, and Darby Allin and Sting vs Christian Cage and Luchasaurus. This event is full of more action-packed matches, and it is expected to sell out.

WWE Superstar Alexa Bliss recently revealed the name of her upcoming child. Alexa, who is married to Ryan Cabrera, shared a posting on social media, saying that they will be having a girl and her name will be Hendrix Rouge Cabrera. We here at Wrestle Talk wish them all the best on the upcoming birth of their child.

The Question of The Week comes from Bill T. in Arverne, and he said, “I’m happy to see Nia Jax return to the WWE but I’m reading many are not happy about her return. What are your thoughts?” Hi Bill. When Nia Jax was active with the WWE, it was proven that she had a track record of injuring other WWE stars. I felt before, just like I feel now, that she needed to take more time to train, all in an effort to not injure any more of her fellow performers. Hopefully, with her returning back, she had time to correct herself, but we will see as time goes on. Thanks for the question!

If you have a question or comment please send it to eavil183@yahoo.com and have a great weekend!
